Does Urgent Care Do Pregnancy Tests?

In most cases, home pregnancy tests are accurate, but if you are looking for a little bit of extra reassurance or confirmation, Emerald Coast Urgent Care is happy to provide you with a pregnancy test to confirm your results.

Along with administering and confirming your pregnancy test, our expert team can advise you on the next best steps, including exactly how to proceed based on your results.

Are pregnancy tests available any time at urgent care?

Whether you’d like a urine test or a blood test, Emerald Coast Urgent Care has you covered with the most accurate pregnancy results at your convenience 7 days a week, 365 days a year. No appointment is necessary.

When should I take a pregnancy test?

It is best to take a pregnancy test after you’ve missed a period. Ideally, you should wait up to 2 weeks after a missed period for the most accurate results. Testing too soon can result in a false negative due to lower levels of the pregnancy hormone, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), early on.

If you’ve already experienced a missed period and want to test now, the best time to take an at-home or in-office urine pregnancy test is first thing in the morning.

Blood tests can be performed at any time of day, as they detect lower pregnancy hormone levels more efficiently. In some instances, they may also be administered sooner than 2 weeks into a missed period to confirm results.

Does insurance cover the cost of pregnancy testing?

Insurance does not cover store-bought pregnancy tests, but most major insurances cover pregnancy tests performed at urgent care facilities. It is best to check with your specific health insurance provider to confirm coverage.

When do pregnancy symptoms first appear?

Pregnancy symptoms are variable from person to person. Some women experience symptoms exceptionally early on in their pregnancy, while others don’t experience them until later into their first trimester.

Some women may begin to experience symptoms as early as a few days after conception. Most women experience them a few weeks after a missed period. If you believe you are pregnant, then taking a pregnancy test is the best way to confirm it.

What are the most common pregnancy symptoms?

The most common symptom of pregnancy is a missed period.

Other symptoms include:

  • Increased urination
  • Tender, swollen breasts
  • Nausea and/or vomiting
  • Fatigue
  • Light spotting
  • Cramping
  • Constipation
  • Food aversions
  • Bloating
  • Mood changes
